*****Additional Ceremonies:*****
Sand Ceremony
This ceremony requires a glass container of sand for the bride and one for the groom, filled with sand. Between the sand filled containers, there should be a larger glass container that the couple will pour their sand into for a keepsake. Sand ceremony kits can be purchased at many craft stores and also online.
Sand Ceremony #1:
____ and ____, will now seal their relationship through the mixing of the sands. _____ and ____, today you are making a life-long commitment to share the rest of your lives with one another. As you each hold your sand, the sand represents your lives to this moment; individual and unique.
As you combine your sand together, your lives also join together as one. Your relationship is symbolized through the pouring of the sand; representing ____ and ____, and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you ever will be. You may now blend the sand together symbolizing uniting your lives into one.
Sand Ceremony #2:
____ and ____, will now seal their relationship through the mixing of the sands. Just as two lives together join now to become one, so will the individual sands become one as they are poured. It would be impossible to separate these sands, just as it would be impossible to separate ____ and ____’s lives after today.
This covenant is a relationship pledge between two people who love each other heartily, and who agree that they will commit themselves to one another throughout their lives. (Couple then pours sand. Groom first, then bride, layering and taking turns until the couple’s vases are almost empty, then pouring the remaining sand together over the top)

Unity Candle Ceremony
This ceremony requires three candles, usually a large on placed between two shorter candles. Be sure the couple has the two smaller candles lit prior to the bride walking down the aisle.
Light is the essence of our existence. Each one of us possesses an inner glow that represents our hopes, our dreams and aspirations in life.
____ and ____, the two distinct candle flames represent your lives before this day, individual, unique and special. Please take the candle symbolizing your life before today, and together light the center candle to symbolize the union of your individual lives.”
(Place the tapers back into their holders—join hands and remain near the candles)
As this new flame burns undivided, so shall your lives now be one. From now on your thoughts will always be for each other rather than your individual selves. Your plans will be mutual, your joys and sorrows both will be shared alike.
Extinguish the two flames symbolizing your previous lives and you are forever united together in love.”
(Each blows out their individual candle and walk back together to the marriage officiant)
